Eco tourism Safaris in Eastern Africa is well developed with communities being involved in the day-to-day running of lodges and wildlife reserves. In other resource rich regions of East Africa, especially Western Kenya and Western Tanzania these facilities are in the process of being established. Communities are being encouraged to build and run eco-lodges together with other players in the tourism industry and thus avoid the negative impacts of travel as a result of the local population failing to embrace these economic activities.
