LAKE NAKURU EXPRESS (1 Day)
Lake Nakuru lies in the volcano-strewn
Rift Valley, one of a chain of 8 lakes, which stretch the
length of Kenya from Tanzania to Ethiopia. The 160 km drive
from Nairobi passes through highland farms of the Kikuyu people
before descending the escarpment into the dramatic landscape
of the Rift. Lunch is taken in the Park and is followed by
an extensive tour which focuses on the bewildering spectacle
of a million flamingos but which also seeks out the large
variety of wildlife with which the park abounds. On the tea
break among the fever trees bird watchers will delight in
the fantastic array of bird life. The tour ends in Nairobi
in the late evening.
AMBOSELI EXPRESS (1 Day)
Amboseli National Park lies within
the shadow of the mighty Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain
whose peak may be seen from the park in clear weather. Only
nature and all her majesty could create such a back -drop
to the wildlife pageant found at Amboseli. Game is seen enroute
to the park, which crosses plains where the Masai tribesmen
tend their cattle in an age-old tradition. Lunch is taken
at a lodge within the park, followed by another game drive
where lion, cheetah can be seen including elephant and hippo
that are found bathing in the swamp-grounds which get their
waters from Mt. Kilimanjaro. Return to Nairobi in good time
for dinner.
NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK/LUNCH CARNIVORE/BOMAS
(1 Day)
8.30 A.M. Depart your Nairobi hotel
for the Nairobi National Park, which is 10 km way or 15 minutes
drive from the city centre. 4 of the big five except the elephant
can be seen and there are a variety of antelopes. The park
is home to plenty of migratory game despite its small size
being only 114 km². Hippos and a few crocodiles can be
seen in the river pools plus a variety of plains game and
birds. You will then proceed to the Carnivore Restaurant,
which is dubbed 'the meat eaters paradise'. Various meats
including game meat are served barbecued though the restaurant
also has a vegetarian menu. In the afternoon you will visit
the Bomas of Kenya where you will be entertained with traditional
songs and dance and an acrobatic show in the main arena prior
to which you will have visited the 'Bomas ' or homesteads
where the every day lives of the 43 different ethnic groups
in Kenya are depicted. Return to the city centre in the evening.
Mt. LONGONOT AND LAKE NAIVASHA
(1 Day)
Leave Nairobi City "The concrete
Jungle" and drive westwards stopping at the viewpoint
on the Great Rift Valley and view the Loita Plains and also
from here you can see Lake Naivasha sparkling in the sun thousands
of feet below. Then proceed to Lake Naivasha (and this is
the highest Lake in The Rift Valley). Also Lake Naivasha is
famous in the 1930's as a staging post for Imperial Airways
Flying Boat Services from Durban to London.
You can have a boat ride to the
Crescent Island or move to the foothills of Mount Longonot
and climb up to the rim of the crater (option activities).
N.B. Crescent Island is one
of the few places in all Africa where you can wander on foot
among hers of Zebra, Wildebeest, Gazelle, and Giraffe, because
of the absence of predators.
